I went to bed at 8:30 last night after meeting my first roommate, Elder, who was the unfortunate soul who had to try and communicate with my broken Spanish. It took a little while but eventually we reached a sort of understanding (which constitutes me staring blankly, nodding and saying "sí, gracias") and then turned off the lights, which were all turned back on at 10:30 when the rest of my roommates returned (and had dinner?). We woke up around 5:30 and I met Eduardo, who speaks better english than I speak spanish. My need to become conversational-ish in spanish is rather pressing.
Also, I think I'm going to be Jesus is a play today.

Update: I'm definitely going to be portraying Jesus circa His triumphant return. Our team is helping out put on a cool little musical production thingy. We are so multi-talented.

Matt! I'm so excited for you, and all you guys. I greatly remember the feelings you're experiencing right now. If you haven't yet, tell Eduardo that you know us from Wheaton; me, Andrew Hillard and Raquel--he'll be very excited.

ReplyDeleteHave lots of fun there, kids!! It's so weird to be hearing about all this stuff because I remember it all so well! But have fun, and don't take anything for granted just because y'all'll be there a hundred times longer than everyone else. It WILL wear off, and you'll get into the dreary dull of daily life. But don't let that stop your excitement! Love those kids with everything you have. And send my love and greetings and missings to Nueva Esperanza y los niños en Nuevo Pacto que fueron en mi casa el año pasado...:( :( ¡Los extraño tanto! (See?
